We are all becoming more aware of how much waste we are producing, and so when we thought about setting up a gifting website, we knew that thinking about the packaging had to be paramount.
We spent a considerable amount of time researching which companies we could use that had the same ethos as us.
Our beautiful gift boxes are made by the Tiny Box Company, a local UK company and here is what they say:
"The Tiny Box Company only offers recycled packaging and eco-friendly packaging. We offer a huge range of cheap and stylish recycled jewellery boxes, gift boxes, recycled presentation boxes, gift bags, recycled carrier bags and other recycled gift packaging for all your packaging needs. The added benefit is that (if you haven't already noticed!) all our gift boxes bags and other stuff are made from recycled paper. Not only are our products recycled and eco-friendly, but they are also fully recyclable."
We also needed to consider the postal boxes we use to distribute our gifts. Our partner in this area is Kite Packaging, an employee-owned business. They say:
Kite’s mailing bags are:
An eco-friendly alternative to standard polythene mailing bags.
Produced from sugar cane: the greenest material on the market
Fully recyclable 50-micron material, making it an improved environmental solution
Equal to standard oil-derived polythene packaging, meaning no compromise on the strength or quality
Carbon neutral – the carbon dioxide taken from the atmosphere in the growing process, offsets the carbon dioxide emitted through production and transport.
Kite has developed a range of Enviro products, designed to minimise the impact of packaging on the environment.
The first product in this range was the Envirobox, which was developed in conjunction with WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme). Kite’s challenge was to come up with a single-wall carton that’s as strong and robust as a double wall carton, to reduce environmental impact. Following a six-month trial with selected Kite customers, our design won WRAP’s seal of approval.
Due to the successful launch of the Envirobox, Kite has subsequently developed a range of other products which provide significant benefits to the environment, over and above standard packaging alternatives. This includes Envirostretch and Envirotape.
